ATC's and inchies

I have been playing with my layouts in different sizes lately, so it makes sense that I should attempt ATC's and inchies. Now, I won't say my attempts have been successful - particularly my effort at ATC's, but I really enjoyed creating a little series of 6 inchies for an international swap. If you want to give some swaps ago go to http://www.swap-bot.com/

They offer swaps of all kinds, really well organised and lots of fun.
Go on, give it a go!

Will post my successess and less than successful efforts here soon

Vintage revisted...

Hmmm, I really thought I had a good go at vintage with my layout about my grandparents and all you need is love, but apparently some naysayers reckon I got it wrong.
Following are a couple of layouts I have just completed, I think they may be a little more true to the vintage style, but then what do I know? Tell me what you think.

'71

I took the lead from other vintage layouts I have been inspired by and used lots of glimmer-mist and ink, I embossed the paper covered chipboard squares to add some more texture. I thought the Kaisercraft key was a nice vintage find, and since dad is 21 in the photo, appropriate too. Loved the little scrapware butterflies fluttering off into the mist.

Together

My dad's parents on their wedding day, 1945.
Not as happy with this layout, but got the chance to use my pricey prima vine and doileys. Experiementing with different sized layouts at the moment, a change is as good as a holiday.

March classes at Fat Cat Scrappin'

Coming up in March I am teaching a layout using the new Kaiercraft Class of '87 range. Isn't it about time we had some Aussie styled school products? Including words like Prep and lots of little banners it is a really cute range. The journal pockets are super cute and lots of rubons are available. I have made my layout into a pocket for all of my cuties' student of the week awards, sport ribbons etc.
Anyway, here's my sample. Class is on Friday March 25 7-9pm, $10 class fee plus materials - hope to see some new faces along with the regulars.

Little cutie

Don't you just love this photo of my baby cousin? It is the inspiration for his baptism gift - I'm going to make a canvas and hope it turns out okay.

At last, finished projects!

As promised, I have been clicking away and taking lots of photos of my most recent projects!
To start, here are the canvases I made to pretty up my loungeroom.
I am very happy with how they turned out.

I have used lots of natural textures that suit the farm feel of the photo and our lifestyle.  Dried grass from the paddock, hessian, raffia, snippets of green, a leaf and even a little bee is peeking out.

Again, in keeping with the the natural theme I have used calico to make my own flowers on a branch from the yard, raffia, a Bo Bunny flower, pins and a little dragonfly is hiding.

I used impasto medium as the base for both canvases to add some texture. I love how they turned out!

Just finished my layout for Scrapbook Challenges, sketch 239
http://scrapbookchallenges.ning.com/

Have been meaning to scrap these photos of my Nan and Pa's wedding day for ages, and finally found a sketch I LOVE! My new Tim Holtz tickets came in handy, and some little frames I picked up from the op-shop and a beautiful button finish it off nicely.

Finished my December Kraft it up challenge, a Christmas layout using non-traditional colours.

I love using stiching and haby on my layouts - can you tell?- and thought the dress pattern looked cool on everyone elses layout, so why not? The buzz and bloom alphas are great, I paint them, glitter them, ink them, use them raw etc.

And following are just a couple of layouts I have finished in the last couple of weeks.

Using Fat Cat Scrappin' January kit matched perfectly for my layout about Book Week last year.

Another kraft it up challenge, altering the edges of my layout. Love grunge, its my excuse to by myself: messy!

My baby broke his arm a while ago, definately needs to be documented.

So many more to post, but I am out of time. Don't forget to check out the Jindivick flower and craft show on the last weekend in February and the Warragul Show, first weekend in March.

Where does the time go?

I have been so busy with the billy-lids on holidays I have had no time to myself! Have managed to fit in some scrapping when they are at their best - asleep! Completed my first canvas and am wrapped with how it turned out. Working on another now, will upload photos asap.
Completed my entry for Fat Cat Scrappin January challenge, a layout for my February class and have finished off some UFO's as well as starting and finishing (yes, your read it right) some new layouts.
Will be looking at some new challenge sites so I can continue on my ABC of me - a much avoided topic by so many scrappers, but a really rewarding and worthwhile pursuit.
Fat Cat Scrappin Forum will be on-line real soon, can't wait!

Busy, busy

I have been so disorganised this christmas, only just started my shopping yesterday! Hubby feeling a lot better, kids excited with only 4 days of school left, started working on my layout for kraftitup challenge - non-traditional christmas colour, pretty easy.  Shopping with a friend again tonight, hopefully I will start wrapping and put them under our beautiful fresh tree by the weekend. Ciao

December happenings...

With the hubby out of action due to surgery I have been extra busy. Kids finish school next week - haven't even thought about pressies for the teachers that I can make in next to no time for next to no money, any suggestions? Christmas preparations are coming along decidedly slowly for me, I'm normally finished my shopping with gifts wrapped under the tree by now, but will need to spend all weekend at shopping centres I fear, and put hubby to use wrapping next week.
Friends for dinner tomorrow, haven't cleaned the house yet, washing piling up since we've had so many storms lately and cupboards are bare. Classes at Fat Cat Scrappin' should clear my mind tonight and tomorrow afternoon, nothing like a little "me time" sans family to get me back on track and in the right frame of mind to deal with the day to day!

My Daily December

Inspired by the all conquering Ali Edwards I am embarking on a Daily December project. My little angel and shepherd had their Christmas Concert last night and this will be the subject of December 1st. Just quietly, the halo on my angel had slipped considerably by the first Noel, but was back on straight for Christmas where the gum trees grow. Little shepherd sang beautifully.

Have been busy trying to finish some projects I have on the go. I am really not much of a sewer, except on scrapbook pages, but managed to finish this cute handbag for my sister in law's birthday. I used a Rosalie design? At the races - sorry couldn't find the packaging, but thought it turned out alright!
