Challenge Me Happy

Challenge Me Happy is celebrating with their one year anniversary HOOPLA!
If you haven't yet checked out this great challenge site you need to!
This month they are running a challenge extravaganza and there are 7 - yes, seven - amazing different challenges to try.

Cuboree

I have taken inpiration from Lisa's Advertisement challenge for this layout.

Okay - honestly, I know the end result doesn't look much like it at all, but I have included a lot of photos, tilted my favourite pic and included a word cloud where the text was. Try customising your own at Wordle.

My son was lucky enough to attend Cuboree last September. This is a huge Cub camp that occurs only once in three years, with kids coming from all over the Victoria to tent, play and learn together.

As a parent I think they time it wrongly - it is cold, wet and windy in Victoria at this time of year. From a kids' perspective its perfect: mud, mud and more mud.

Sophies June Challenge - use multiple photos

Savannah made this beautiful page for Sophies Challenge at Show us your stuff!

She has been paying much closer attention to me than I realised. She sanded the edges of her page and all of her photos, she is a master with the Cuttlebug and went to town with the glimmermist. Her Bratz body jewels came in handy - a girl can never have too much bling!

She was very pleased with her effort (not to mention how proud I was) and we have framed it and hung it in her bedroom.

It is rather lovely to think that all of us four generations of girls who share the name Joy are together, and maybe someday there will be a fifth generation!

SUYS June Group 1 Challenge

project: birdfeeder

I have drawn my color palette from the inspiration image, and created a little birdie of my own from Fimo.

Paint and glimmermist were used to create my background, along with some building themed patterned papers. I stamped my birdcage and feeder onto clear acrylic and glimmermisted a feather to match.

This project was a major component of  a Cub Scout badge Connor was working towards during first term, Handcraft Level 2.  I supervised and make sure he kept all 8 fingers and 2 thumbs while using hand and power tools, and hesweated like a little trouper to get it complete.

The result: a fantastic birdfeeder that hangs in our Silver Birch, welcoming a large assortment of native birds to stop by our place for a little snack.

And of course I have to credit the insipiration for the layout to this little guy and the brilliant minds at

Just how cute is this little handmade birdie from Ashley at secretholiday!

June Kraft it Up

Only you hold the key to my heart

Another challenge from kraft it up!

** JUNE'S CHALLENGE **This month your challenge is to create a layout using Kraft Cardstock or Kraft Patterned Paper
and the following...
3 Different Alpha's + 3 Photos + A title with 3 or more words + a masked background!

I thought all  the requirements of this months' challenge might be hard to put together, but once I had a spark of an idea it came together quite quickly.

I have used some MME patterned kraft combined with plain kraftcontrasting navy cardstock. My alphas are Prima stickers in 2 different fonts, and some RW lasercut chippie alphas that I've painted and glimmermisted.

Rummaging found me an old key that was no longer needed, so I transformed it with paint, ink and embossing powder. For instructions on similar techniques check out the You tube tute for shabby chic keys.

I used the Kaisercraft wooden flower branch as a mask for glimmermist, then added some pretty pearls to it and attatched it to my layout. It was more fragile than I remember them being, or else my big clumbsy fingers were less careful, and I managed to break it in several places. Never fear - Helmar Scrapdots to the resue! Yes, incredibly through the mountain of junk on my desk I managed to find this exceptional product and it saved the day.

Maybe I'm getting more sentimental as I get older, or maybe I just realise that some day my memory will fail me - either way I'm grateful for that little twinge that reminds me to journal on my layouts. I have included a little glimmermisted tag behind my photos with my journalling.
